One of my new flatmates has been living in this house for four and a half years. In that time, she has accumulated a lot of things. Since I was eighteen, I have moved house quite a bit, and those were usually big moves where it was impossible for me to take everything I owned without it costing a pirate's chest of treasure and gold. As a result, I'm used to living in places where everyone else lives like me and there is sparse else but the furniture. But my new house is different. On the shoe cupboard, there is Stuff, and on the coffee table, there is Stuff, and there's Stuff on top of the microwave and right up on top of the kitchen cabinets and the bookcases have figurines in front of the books and the pantry spins my head every time I open it because there's just so much Stuff.

I'm hearing fewer birds in this area. No mynas and no wattlebirds. I think I hear a cockatoo screech every now and then. I think someone near here keeps it as a pet.
