Aug. 4th, 2018 11:21 amThis whole week I have noticed a big drop in my Korean language proficiency. Lots of pauses and choppy grammar and "뭐라고 하면 되지?" What have I done to curb it? Nothing.
Yesterday I was talking to some Melbourne native colleague about the Melbourne Cup and they told me they never watched the Melbourne Cup at school. I was so shocked! I just couldn't understand. Isn't the Melbourne Cup supposed to be 'the race that stops the nation'? Every year we stopped class, turned on the radio, and listened to it, and this happened all through primary and secondary school. How did they not stop class in Melbourne, the host of the Cup? Then the Melbourne native colleagues told me it's a public holiday here so no one was at school.
